Why You Should Consider Booking the Same Photographer For Your Family Over The Years

If you have been following me for a while, you know one of my favorite things is photographing my little nephew and now nieces 😍. I had the blessing of photographing the A. Family while Haley was pregnant with Charlie back in 2020 (see photos from their session here). We planned a photo session exactly a year later (same date!) and Charlie got to show off his new walking skills, as well as bothering his fur-sibling, Simba 🐶 (or maybe, at times, it was the other way around 😉).

Of course, I am biased with my family members, but I sincerely love being able to serve returning clients with their images and document their family in different phases and stages! I think it is also a good idea to book the same photographer for your maternity, newborn, and future family sessions until your little one is a little older. This can lessen the stress that can usually come with scheduling, planning, and actually going through your session. Hear me out...

  • You already know your photographer, and you know you work well together, because you have most likely already had one previous photo session with them. This means you know their workflow, what to expect of the process to include what to expect during your photo session, and the types of images you will receive as a product.

This means you can feel comfortable in knowing you'll be happy with your images and, most importantly, feel comfortable during the process!

  • Your photographer already knows YOU! While I cannot speak for all photographers, I know I speak for myself when I say that I truly try to get to know my clients, how they like to spend their time together, what is important to them (this is incredibly easier to do when I have a chance to see your family changing over the years) and I do my best to capture this in your images.

  • You're comfortable with each other! Many times, especially with little ones, families need to reschedule their photo session due to multiple factors - maybe their baby's sleep schedule has been off the week of the session, maybe they are feeling a little sick, or a multitude of other things that we simply cannot have control over. Once you've established a rapport with your photographer, you are both most likely to be more communicative and flexible when it comes to needing to reschedule and shift things for your session. It takes the guessing game out of how you wonder they will respond to your requests, so you feel more confident requesting any changes necessary to ensure your photo session will be a good experience for your family (not needing to show up to the session with a sniffly tired babe for the sake of making it).

  • Finally, one of the same reasons why photographers also suggest hiring the same photographer for their engagement and wedding photos is consistency. Each photographer has their own style of shooting, from how they run their sessions, to how they edit their images. Booking the same photographer means that you will have consistency in the types of captures you receive, and the overall look of your images.

Lastly, booking your photographer again is sure to make your photographer happy! While again, I can't speak for all, I'd like to think we are in this 'work' for the joy of documenting beautiful and tender moments between you and your loved ones. Your family deserves to be celebrated throughout any stage of life, and I live for capturing smiles, looks, snuggles, tickles, and all those things in between that makeup your everyday life. My hope is that years from today, you'll be able to look back at your images and 'feel those feelings', that your images bring a smile to your face as you show your 'not so little ones' just how little they used to be.

Your family is unique, this moment in your life is unique and deserves to be documented.

I would love to be considered as your photographer. Ready to book your session? Send me a note here!

Hugs,

Gabriela
